Why is it so important to meet every Sunday?
God the Father gave Jesus authority
John 14:10 Jesus spoke by His Father’s authority
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
Matt 28:18-20 all authority was given to Jesus
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;
Matt 16:19 Jesus gave the apostles authority to bind and loose
19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
NASU
Jesus gave the apostles authority
Matt 18:18 the apostles would only bind what had been bound
already by God
18 "Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
NASU
The Holy Spirit was given to help the apostles

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;
Acts 1:8 the apostles would receive power from the Holy Spirit
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
John 15:26-27 Jesus promised the Holy Spirit
26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
27 And you (the apostles) also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
1 Thess 2:13-14 The apostles spoke the word of God
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans,
The apostles spoke and wrote God's word
2 Tim 3:16-17 all scripture is from God
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Eph 3:4-5 Paul says we can read and understand
when you read , you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,
5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:
1 Cor 14:37 Paul(and the apostles)wrote the commandments of the Lord...
37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.
John 14:15 Jesus said...
If you love Me, keep My commandments.
The apostles, by God's authority, gave us command and example in regard to this question
Heb 10:24-25 the Hebrew writer commands we do not forsake the
assembly
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Acts 20:7 an example of when they assembled
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus...
1 Cor 16:2 another example
2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
Other interesting mentions of the 1st day of the week...

the church

Because it is commanded, by His authority!

25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Because the 1st day of the week is when the church assembled.
Acts 20:7 (an example of when they assembled)
Now on the first day of the week , when the disciples came together to break bread,(the Lord’s supper) Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
